While this IS only a play retrieve, thr point today was to build confidence, muscle memory, and an unquenchable desire to 'Go get it!!'.
We definitely achieved that goal as Riley's genetic hard wiring 'to retrieve' is now flipped, forever, to "ON!".
Going to retrieve with Riley is the easy part, control of that retrieve going and returning is the harder part. But we will get there, for sure.
It was this first lesson, with the stellar Redd (Senior Hunter) and Rutg (Junior Hunter) setting outstanding examples that got Riley over her initial "What??" AND NOW, Riley knows what it is to retrieve on water, so too does Buck.
It is always sheer joy for me yo see a dog do what it was bred to do. It is addictive...
